It's ideal for apps, backups, and anything already using the AWS S3 API. File storage (SMB/NFS) works like a traditional network drive — you mount it on your server or workstation and it shows up as a folder. No application changes needed. If you're not sure which you need, just ask us.

No. We don't charge for data transfer out. You pay for storage capacity and that's it. This is one of the biggest advantages over AWS S3 or Backblaze B2 — especially if you're restoring large backups frequently.

If your server is colocated with us or on Grant County's fiber network, you're accessing storage over local fiber — sub-millisecond latency, full gigabit throughput. Dramatically faster than anything cloud-hosted.

Yes — the storage capacity is shared across both types. If you're on the 1TB plan and want to use 500GB for S3 backups and 500GB as an NFS share, that works. Contact us when you sign up and we'll set up whichever combination you need.
